Immerse yourself in the world of vine cultivation through an immersive vine pruning simulation designed to closely replicate real-life technical gestures in the field. This contest allows participants to test their precision, observational skills, and mastery of best viticultural practices within an innovative digital environment.
Through a series of interactive scenarios, competitors must analyse each vine stock, identify the correct pruning points, and perform the most appropriate actions according to production goals and plant health. Each action is evaluated in real time, providing precise educational feedback and highlighting the essential know-how of the profession. Accessible to both students and professionals in France and internationally, this challenge showcases the high level of skill and technical expertise required for vine pruning, while offering a playful, modern, and safe approach. A unique experience combining training, innovation, and competition in service of the wine industry.
The Virtual Vine Pruning Contest will take place on Thursday, December 3rd, from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM, at the Vinitech-Sifel Trade Show during the Vinitech Games, at the Parc des Expositions - Bordeaux.
During this contest, 16 participants (8 in the “Trainee” category and 8 in the “Advanced” category) will take on a major challenge: virtual vine pruning using a dedicated simulator.
Before each contest begins, all participants will benefit from an introductory training session.
This phase will allow them to become familiar with:
he aim is to ensure that everyone can handle the equipment under the best possible conditions before the competition starts.
The 8 participants in each category will be randomly divided into 2 groups of 4 participants.
In each group:
At the end of this stage, the participant with the highest score in each group qualifies for the semi-finals.
The top two teams from each group will go through to the semi-finals.
Each participant completes a new run and receives a new score.
The two highest scores advance to the final.
The final pits the two best semi-finalists against each other.
At the end of this final run, the participant with the highest score is declared the winner of their category.

INTERCO Nouvelle-Aquitaine: supporting international visibility
As the international cooperation agency of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Council, the INTERCO team coordinated the organisation of the Vinitech Games in collaboration with the Vinitech-Sifel trade show and all partners, and carried out initiatives to make the competition accessible to international participants.
This means you can compete against professionals and students from all over the world, broadening your technical horizons.
AgroCampus Bordeaux Gironde is a public agricultural training institution bringing together four secondary schools, apprenticeship and adult training centres, and wine-growing estates in the Gironde region. Deeply rooted in its territory and committed to addressing the evolving needs of the living world professions, the institution naturally partnered with Vinitech-Sifel to design competitions that promote knowledge transfer and innovation within the wine industry.
The institution is also involved as a partner in the VitiREV project.
VitiREV is a regional action programme dedicated to adapting viticulture to climate challenges and supporting the ecological transition in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. It highlights sustainable practices and innovative solutions serving the wine industry. As part of its commitment to fostering innovation, VitiREV has chosen to provide financial support for the virtual vine pruning competition designed by AgroCampus Bordeaux Gironde.
For the past 12 years, Studio Nyx (Angoulême) has been designing innovative training software for the agricultural and wine-growing sectors. An active member of the VitiREV collaborative project, it brings cutting-edge immersive solutions into classrooms: AMPÉLOS (vine pruning), SIMUPULVÉ (sprayer calibration), and E-CAB (VR machinery operation).
