Create, Dare, Innovate around wine
A brand-new mixology coontest welcoming professionals and students from France and abroad, this challenge celebrates creativity, innovation and boldness. Participants will be invited to craft original cocktails inspired by products from the wine industry, showcasing their expertise, inventive spirit and flair for innovation.
The Mixology Contest will be held on Tuesday, December 1, from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the Vinitech Games at the Vinitech-Sifel Trade Show, at the Parc des Expositions - Bordeaux.
This contest is chaired by: CIVB and UMIH 33
During the contest a total of 16 candidates (8 in the « Trainee » category and 8 in the « Experienced » category) will take on a creative challenge: to design and craft original cocktails inspired by Bordeaux wines, across a series of themed rounds with specific constraints designed to push creativity, technique and innovation.
Round 1 - Surprise Buffet Challenge: participants will be challenged to create a cocktail using a selection of mystery ingredients and Bordeaux wines provided on site.
Round 1 - Creative Challenge (10 minutes)
Based on the theme “ Festive Cocktail “,, participants will have full creative freedom to design a cocktail using their own pre-prepared ingredients brought on the day. A curated selection of Bordeaux wines will also be available.
Round 2 - Surprise Buffet Challenge (15 minutes)
Participants must create a cocktail using a set selection of ingredients and chilled Bordeaux wines (dry, sweet, fortified, semi-sweet white wines, white and rosé crémant, rosé, Clairet and Claret) provided for the event.
The two highest-scoring candidates from each category will qualify for the final. They will compete in a last “Surprise Buffet” challenge, during which they must create a cocktail using a new set selection of ingredients and a single Bordeaux wine reference provided to them.
The Vinitech Games Mixology Contest is the perfect opportunity to showcase your talent and experience a unique event at the heart of the trade show.

As a result, you will have the opportunity to compete against professionals and students from all around the world and broaden your technical horizons.
The CIVB (Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux) is the professional organisation representing Bordeaux winegrowers and wine merchants. Led by elected industry professionals, it brings the sector together around research, quality, and the promotion of Bordeaux wines, as well as market analysis and the defence of the industry’s general interests, particularly in terms of sustainable development, wine tourism, and responsible consumption.
UMIH 33 is the leading professional trade union in France and in the Gironde region, representing the TCHR sector (caterers, event organisers, cafés, hotels, restaurants, and nightclubs). It represents and defends these businesses and professions before public authorities, policymakers, and regulatory bodies. It also advises, supports, and trains its member companies on a daily basis and actively promotes the industry’s professions.
