Vinitech-Sifel in Logroño to discuss the future of dealcoholized wines

On June 18, Vinitech-Sifel will take part in the technical conference “Objective: Lower Alcohol Content”, held at the Rioja Culture Centre (CCR) in Logroño, Spain. This event will bring together wineries, oenologists, researchers and wine industry professionals around one of the most dynamic trends in the market: low-alcohol and dealcoholized wines.

A fast-growing segment

In response to changing consumer habits and growingdemand for lighter beverages, producers are exploring new solutions that enable them to diversify their portfolios while preserving the quality and identity of their wines. The “NoLow” (No Alcohol & Low Alcohol) wine segment has become a major driver of innovation for wineries worldwide.

The “Objective: Lower Alcohol Content” conference will provide practical insights into dealcoholization processes, associated technical challenges, and economic opportunities offered by this rapidly expanding category.

Preserving wine identity through innovation

Among the highlights of the event is a presentation by SOLOS Technology Iberia, a company specializing in dealcoholization and aroma recovery technologies. Participants will discover how the combination of vacuum distillation and advanced aroma recovery techniques makes it possible to reduce or remove alcohol while preserving the compounds responsible for the wine’s sensory profile.

These technological advances address a key challenge for producers: offering alcohol-free wines that retain the elegance, aromatic complexity and varietal expression expected by consumers.

Scientific and commercial challenges of alcohol-free wines

Beyond technological aspects, the conference will address issues related to product stability, production methods and market acceptance. Researcher Lucía González-Arenzana from the Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences (ICVV), University of La Rioja, will share her expertise on the oenological and scientific challenges of producing dealcoholized wines.

A round table bringing together experts from research, technology and commerce will also explore the future outlook for this category. Demand evolution, recent technological advances and the challenges ahead will be central topics of discussion.

A tasting of a new generation of wines

Participants will also have the opportunity to attend an exclusive tasting of international dealcoholized wines. This session will showcase different sensory profiles, analyze aromatic characteristics, and highlight the production techniques used to create high-quality alternatives suited to new consumption occasions.

A meeting point for wine industry innovation

This event is part of Conecta Wine by La Prensa del Rioja, an initiative dedicated to knowledge sharing, innovation and professional exchange within the wine sector.

For Vinitech-Sifel, as a partner of this event, participation reflects its commitment to supporting the transformation of the wine industry. Low-alcohol and dealcoholized wines are among the key themes shaping the future of the sector, alongside market adaptation, product innovation and evolving consumer expectations.

On June 18, in Logroño, Vinitech-Sifel will meet the key players already shaping the solutions of tomorrow for viticulture and oenology.
