Viti-Tunnel is a response to the search for alternative methods to drastically reduce the use of phytosanitary products, without modifying the land’s pedoclimatic environment or the typicity of the wine. At the same time, in a context of global climate change making extreme weather events more likely, Viti-Tunnel also represents a solution to protect against crop losses caused by such conditions.

Vitipince is a tool that can be fitted to a mini-digger type mechanical arm for uprooting and then planting a new vine. This tool combines several functions. All the tasks involved in complantation can be performed in a single pass with the same tool, where previously four passes were required: uprooting the stock, its collection, planting the new vine, and finally, staking, sleeving and adding a little fertiliser. In the closed position, the clamp forms a claw which can be used to loosen the soil even in very stony ground.

This innovation comprises a wooden container designed for the fermentation, maturation and storage of alcoholic beverages such as wine or spirits, equipped with a thermoregulation system integrated into the thickness of the wooden material from which the container is made. The heat exchanger integrated into the wood acts uniformly on the alcoholic beverage being fermented or matured. The heat exchanger is then no longer in direct contact with the liquid, instead taking advantage of the wood’s conductivity to maintain a uniform temperature across the liquid in the container. This equipment can be used to heat or cool the liquid, or maintain it at the desired temperature. The absence of an exchanger inside the container makes routine operations, such as cap punching and stirring, possible without any constraints. Cleaning the container after use is made easier since hard-to-reach areas are eliminated.

The product of a collaboration between IFV and INRAE within UMT Minicave, Vinimag is the first automated device for the vinification of red grapes at small scale (<1 kg). This robot designed by IFV and INRAE delivers on the challenge of controlling red grape fermentation (in the heterogeneous phase) at the kg scale. Around a collaborative robotic arm called a cobot, 60 fermenters with independent temperature regulation, an online monitoring station (weighing and colour) and an automated additive and homogenisation station operate completely autonomously throughout the fermentation process. In addition, vinification at this smaller scale allows grapes to be kept frozen in 1 kg batches, to perform vinification all year round. Vinimag is the only automated system in the world to date for red grape vinification at the 1 kg scale, allowing reproducible screening for multiple applications (oenological screening of varieties, yeast strains, etc.). This boosting of experimental capacities allows IFV and INRAE to respond more quickly to the current challenges facing the sector. The tool incorporates set methodological options and default settings, enabling users to collect the data available in the vineyard (number of passes, types of tool, tractor power, amounts of fertiliser and phytosanitary products, etc.). GES&Vit calculates the emissions generated on 1 hectare of vines, for up to three different driving modes. Emissions for the entire vineyard are extrapolated based on the area covered by the three driving modes employed in the vineyard and the distance from each plot to the main operating base (transportation of machinery and workforce by road).

Determining TPPV is a new approach, developed by IFV, for the control of volatile phenols in wines. These compounds are responsible for loss of quality of varying degrees of severity, including loss of fruit aromas and the appearance of animal notes. The TPPV denotes the maximum amount of volatile phenols that could be produced in a given vintage. Determining the TPPV in different wines shows that certain vintages, following alcoholic fermentation, present a risk of volatile phenols below the threshold of perception while others present a risk which can exceed ten times this threshold. Oenological monitoring can then be adapted as a result.

PMH Vinicole specialises in pumping technology for the wine sector and in 2009 developed the Oenopompe wine pump, a leader in the high-end segment. The pump sector has been dominated by technologies that have proved themselves over time, such as peristaltic, vane, piston and elliptical rotor pumps. All have in common an undesirable pulsating flow effect and very often require the use of a dampener to minimise pulsation. Using a pulsation dampener has the effect of increasing the risk of bacterial contamination due to the difficulty of rinsing; moreover, the harvest is shaken, often crushed, and oxidises much more quickly. An initial Bucher Vaslin machine had optical selection functionality allowing the user to choose to retain only healthy, intact berries, and eliminating foreign bodies, plant debris and immature berries. Now Bucher Vaslin pushes the boundaries of optical sorting (patent pending) with a new optical sorting machine, Delta Vistalys Ruby, offering completely different functionality. In effect, the machine can yield two distinct batches depending on the maturity of the berries. The principle is based on the anthocyanin concentration of the grape skins.

The physical functioning of the filter drain is very simple; the pressure membrane exerts pressure on the grapes, producing must. This pressure forces the liquid through the filtering structure whose porosity varies depending on the customer's technical goal. Solids bigger than the absolute porosity of the structure therefore remain in the marc inside the pneumatic press, while those smaller than the absolute porosity of the structure are dispersed in the must. Solids are defined as all solid particles dispersed in the must. This physical characteristic correlates directly with the amount of fresh must deposit produced; it can be quantified by various analyses including centrifugation and turbidity measurement (the quantity of solids expressed as NTUs). Turbidity is characterised by different types of solid particles, with a very wide quantitative distribution.

ASPA is a Lygus bug vacuum system for use in aubergine crops. Its purpose is to reduce plant bug numbers in crops using suction to bring numbers down enough for biocontrol techniques to be effective and crop damage level to be economically acceptable for producers.
ASPA comes in the form of two trucks, the first carrying a blower to lift the bugs off and the second comprising a suction system to collect the bugs and remove them from the field.
ASPA offers a solution to the agronomic impasse represented by the ban on the use of neonicotinoids, which could jeopardise the future of this crop in South West and South East France.
