VINITECH INNOVATION TOUR

WINE INDUSTRY PLAYERS DEVELOP INTERNATIONALLY

ONE PROGRAMME, SEVERAL OPPORTUNITIES!

Vinitech Innovation Tour continues in 2023 with new destinations

Vinitech Innovation Tour HONGRIE

June 12th to 16th, 2023

Thanks to links between the Bordeaux Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences, and the University of Tokay, as well as the Sauternes – Tokay twin cities partnership, the next destination of the VIT will take place in Hungary. Discover the richness of the Hungarian market: 22 wine regions, 62,000 hectares of vines, and +700 producers, as well as producers from surrounding countries who speak Hungarian! The mission is made up of pre-qualified individual meetings, technical visits, technical conferences, networking with the major players in the sector, with the support of an experienced local consultant.

Known for Tokay (Aszù grape), a liqueur-like white wine, Hungary also produces different grape varieties, reaching 223 varieties. Production can be divided into 70% white (dry, medium-dry, sweet) and 30% red (dry and medium-dry).

As far as Tokay is concerned, a dozen very large estates of more than 50 hectares are at the head of production, followed by estates of 10 to 45 hectares (about 40 producers). Most producers operate in smaller units, often family-run, which vinify or sell grapes. Another region will also be discovered during the mission!

Hungary is a financed market: €48m put on the market as part of calls for tenders intended to support the modernization of vineyards and make production more efficient, and €15m made available for the promotion of Hungarian wines.

As Business France indicates, growth sectors include:

  • Organic vineyard management practices
  • Frost and freeze protection
  • Smart Farming
  • Irrigation
  • Equipment for viticultural by-products
  • Second-hand machines
